The stepfather of New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson thinks the All-Star will make his return this season.
During his appearance in The Jordy Culotta Show, Lee Anderson said he expects Williamson to step onto the court with the Pelicans.
Anderson explained he was only speaking for himself saying Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans should discuss the situation.
“He’s feeling great,” Anderson said, via Andrew Lopez of ESPN. “Speaking for the Pelicans staff, and not saying any names, they mentioned to me that they are just one player away from being where we need to be at.”
“That was enough for me to know that they are putting some stock in Zion getting healthy and being ready for the long haul,” Anderson continued.
With only four games remaining, the Pelicans are ninth in the Western Conference. The addition of Zion will certainly help New Orleans to secure their place as they will become considerable better as a team.
Zion became a first-time All-Star last season being among the best players in the paint and averaging 27.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and three assists. Despite being at 6’6”, Williamson was dominating putting up 19.5 points per game from the paint.
The Pelicans are 11-8 after the All-Star break with CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram leading the team in the offense. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on March 21 Zion “is not expected to return to play this season.”
Williamson has travelled with the team in the current four-game road trip, Williamson was expected to return earlier in the season, but, various setbacks set his timeline back. The Pelicans still does not give any official timeline on the All-Star.
