Warriors Steve Kerr blasts ”bizarre” officiating at the end of hurtful loss

Golden State Warriors endured another painful loss at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs Sunday night in the first game without Steph Curry.

In the post-game presser, Steve Kerr was baffled by “bizarre” foul calls at the end of the game as his team dropped another winnable game to the Spurs.

After starting slow, the “Dubs” led by Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole fought back from trailing the San Antonio Spurs by 10 in the third quarter.

Momentum changed and Golden State had two second-chance opportunities to take the lead as the game entered its final minute.

But, two fouls —one for the Warriors and one against them— changed the momentum again and led to a 110-108 defeat.

“I thought the two fouls at the end were bizarre — bizarre fouls,” Kerr said per NBC Sports Bay Area.

“I was watching the play where Wiggs got fouled,” Kerr continued. “… I was shocked by that one, and I was shocked by the one on the rebound. I don’t know how those calls can be made. To call fouls in that situation — both of them — one that went for us and one that went against us, I don’t understand.”

Kerr was mostly pleased until the last 10 seconds situation. In addition to not having Curry due to a sprained left foot, the Warriors lost Draymond Green in the third quarter after he picked up two quick technical fouls.

Golden State’s upcoming five-game road trip features two back-to-back series, one of which ends at the Memphis Grizzlies, who are a game and a half ahead of Klay Thompson and co. in the standings.

The “Dubs” will need to show urgency in the last 10 games of the season, being just two games ahead of the fourth-seeded Utah Jazz. Once they’re back home, the Warriors will host the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz.
