Golden State Warriors prepare for Gm 1 of the NBA Finals vs Boston. Head coach Steve Kerr had nothing but praise for the Celtics’ superstar Jayson Tatum ahead of Thursday’s clash at Chase Center.
“One of the very best in the league for sure. He can beat you in a lot of different ways and has a combination of size and skill and speed, it is very rare. Obviously, he’s a key guy for them,” Kerr said on Tatum Monday.
Tatum made his debut appearance on the All-NBA First Team this season, while also being one of the finalists for MVP. After being crowned the Eastern Conference Finals MVP, Tatum is expected to be a key figure in the 2022 Finals’ matchup.
Tatum averaged 25.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.1 steals over seven games vs the Heat to lead Boston to its first Finals’ appearance since 2010. He was also part of the Celtics’ team that reached the EC Finals twice in the last five seasons.
Tatum and Jaylen Brown are undeniably the best Boston has to offer in the offensive side going into the series vs Golden State. Andrew Wiggins will play a massive role in limiting the All-Star forward.
The Warriors will have wings like Otto Porter Jr. (if healthy) also take the responsibility on Tatum, with Draymond Green being a key defensive presence for the Warriors. In any case, the Finals’ matchup between the Warriors and Celtics will be an interesting one.
