The Golden State Warriors dominated the Boston Celtics in Game 6 (103-90) and closed out the series to win the NBA championship (4-2).
This was the fourth NBA championship in the last eight years for the Warriors and seventh overall. The Warriors also returned to the top of the league after a four-year absence.
Stephen Curry led five Golden State players in double figures with 34 points, on 12/21 shooting and 6/11 from beyond the arc. On the other hand, Jaylen Brown (34 points) and Al Horford (19 points, 14 rebounds) were the top players of the losing squad.
After an explosive start to the game (2-14), the Celtics saw the Warriors come back and dominate the rest of the first half. The 2022 NBA champions used a 21-0 run to take a commanding 15-point lead (37-22) and retain it until halftime (54-39).
The Warriors remained in control in the third quarter and led by as many as 22 (72-50). However, the Celtics bounced back and cut the deficit to 10, thanks to a 4-16 run (76-66).
Boston came as close as eight points (86-78), but Golden State stood tall and closed the game strong to win the championship. For their part, the Celtics (17 titles) missed the chance to break the tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for most NBA championships.
