Virtus Bologna has remained alive in the LBA finals series vs Olimpia Milano beating Etorre Messina’s team 84-78 Thursday night. EuroCup MVP Mam Jaiteh put up 17 points to lead Virtus in scoring, while Tornike Shengelia added 15.
Bologna started the game strong and finished the first quarter with a lead of 13 points (25-12). The visitors were able to answer and get back in the game and cut the deficit down to 3 (42-39) at the intermission.
The two teams were going back and forth during the second half, but Virtus created a five-point separation with less than three minutes remaining. A huge three-pointer from Tornike Shengelia and a two-point play from Milos Teodosic led to an 80-75 lead.
Milan scored just three points in the last four minutes and Bologna will have the chance to tie the series(2-3 in best-of-seven) next game Saturday night in Mediolanum Forum. Nikolo Melli was the leading scorer for the visitors with 20 points.
Sergio Rodriguez followed with 18 for the EuroLeague giants and Kyle Hines added 15. Milan will need one win in the next two games to beat Bologna and win the LBA Serie A title.
