Victor Oladipo expected to make season debut Monday

Miami Heat guard Victor Oladipo is set to make his season debut with the team on Monday in the game against the Houston Rockets.

The news first reported by Shams Charania of the Athletic. The two-time All-Star hasn’t played since undergoing surgery to repair his right quad tendon on May 13.

Oladipo is making a full recovery and return from a quad tendon injury in April 2021 – with his comeback game versus the Rockets franchise that traded him to Miami last trade deadline. https://t.co/q6XDgM33tl — Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) March 4, 2022

He was traded mid-season to the Heat from the Houston Rockets. He only played in four Heat games before going down again with another long-term injury.

When healthy, Oladipo could be a two-way presence making an impact in both ends of the floor. Even after returning from long-term absence, he put up 21.2 points in 20 games with the Houston.

However, in his four games in Miami, his stats dropped registering 12.4 points. He enjoyed his best year during his first season in Indiana in 2017-18, when he averaged a career-high 23.1 points and a league-leading 2.4 steals.

The Heat are leading the Eastern Conference with a 42-22 record. Oladipo could provide another option in the team’s perimeter in an already deep roster.

While, it will take time for Oladipo to integrate in the offensive end, he could immediately impact the other end playing alongside PJ Tucker and Jimmy Butler in the wing.

Miami ranks fifth in the league in defense, holding opponents to 104.9 points per game. They could boost that number up if Oladipo is healthy.
