The Brooklyn Nets are still searching for the right package on Kevin Durant sweepstakes and the Warriors could potentially be a team that can offer multiple young players and picks to Brooklyn for the superstar forward.
However, as of now, there has “been little traction between the Warriors and the Nets on such a blockbuster transaction”, per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report. As things stand now, Golden State is not willing to lose so many assets for one player.
Soon after Durant’s request was submitted, reports swirled that the superstar favored the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat as his next destination. Many basketball peers believe the Warriors s have one of the more intriguing potential packages to offer Brooklyn.
With the likes of Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and James Wiseman, and several future picks available, the Warriors could have been a strong candidate for Kevin Durant, who requested a trade at the end of the last month.
Poole is eligible for a contract extension after a breakout year with the team. He transformed into a lethal rotation scorer on a championship team after seeing significant time in the G League as a sophomore.
It appears that the defending champion Warriors are leaning towards keeping their young core intact and learning from the veteran superstar core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
