Terrence Ross would welcome a trade to a playoff team

Orlando Magic are thinking ahead to May 17, when they’ll learn their spot in the NBA Draft lottery. Veteran wing Terrence Ross seems to be out of place in Orlando’s young project with the team being on a fully-fledged rebuild.

With just one year remaining on his contract with the Magic, Ross hasn’t expressly requested a trade, but he has made it clear he’d welcome a change of scenery, per Khobi Price of The Orlando Sentinel. (h/t hoopswire.com)

Ross could provide a spark from the bench for any competitive squad in the NBA. The veteran swingman made clear that he would like a change of scenery, but the decision remains in the Orlando Magic hands.

“We’re definitely in different spots,” Ross said. “I feel like I’m a part of that old regime, and they’re going in a different direction. I don’t know what they’ve got in store for me.”

Ross averaged 23.0 minutes per game through 63 contests during the 2021-22 season. That was the lowest mark of his career since he joined the team in 2017.

With his contract being an expiring one at a reasonable $11.5 million for the last season, it will be interesting to see if they could be NBA organizations, who are willing to send assets to Orlando.

The former Raptors’ forward added that he’s had fun and had “some good runs” in Orlando, but that he’s prepared to shift to a new situation, preferably on a playoff team.

“At least being on a contender and just helping a team and bringing some of the knowledge I have of being a vet,” Ross said on the Outta Pocket podcast.
