The Phoenix Suns survived a late thriller over the Golden State Warriors (107-103) to split the season series (2-2).
In a game with 20 lead changes and 21 ties, it was Chris Paul that decided the outcome. The All-Star guard scored four points in the final seconds and helped the Suns escape from Chase Center with a big victory.
Paul finished the game with 15 points and eight assists. Four more Phoenix players scored in double figures, with Devin Booker and Malik Bridges posting 22 each.
On the other hand, Jordan Poole led the way for Golden State with 38 points, on 11/22 shooting and 7/15 from beyond the arc. He also flirted with the triple-double, with nine rebounds and seven assists.
This was the 62nd win for the Suns (62-14), who tied their franchise record. They will have the opportunity to break it Friday vs the Memphis Grizzlies.
Phoenix also extended its winning streak to nine games, while also remained undefeated since Paul’s return (3-0). The Suns have clinched the best record in the league and the home-court advantage for as long as they advance through the playoffs.
On the contrary, Golden State missed the chance to secure its playoff spot. They will be able to do so Saturday vs the Utah Jazz.
The Warriors dropped to 48-29 and have now lost four in a row, falling to fourth in the West. They are also 1-5 since Stephen Curry’s injury (March 16).
