Dario Saric is still rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered in last season’s NBA Finals. The Phoenix Suns‘ bigman is not expected to return for the playoffs unless there is a real emergency in the team’s frontline during the postseason.
The Croatian forward/center addressed the media for the first time since the opening day of the season. Saric has made big strides in his recovery, and now he’s participating in more basketball activities than before.
“Obviously, my season is [in] a bit different direction than (the) real team but I’m still here in my mind with the team and my heart too,” told reporters Thursday.
Saric told media he’d only return if there is a real emergency for the team this season, per Arizona Sports. The Suns have the depth to cover for Saric with Javale McGee and Frank Kaminsky backing up DeAndre Ayton.
With that in mind, it would have to happen something extreme in order to get Saric back in the court. Phoenix finished the regular season with a franchise record 64 wins and they are the favorite to win the title this year entering the 2022 playoffs.
They have yet to find out their first round opponent, who will be the winner of the play-in tournament game between the Pelicans and Clippers tonight.
