Golden State Warriors started the series vs Denver with Stephen Curry coming off the bench as part of his recovery from injury. Jordan Poole started in his place and put the Nuggets’ defense in a dent.
Steve Kerr spoke with 95.7 The Game’s “Damon & Ratto” and discussed the Warriors’ plan for Curry heading into Games 3 and 4 in Denver. According to the Warriors’ coach, the rotation will return to normal soon.
“Obviously, it’s not going to last long,” Kerr said of Curry coming off the bench (h/t to NBC Sports Bay Area). “He’s one of the greatest players of all time. At some point, he’s going to be back in the starting lineup.”
Curry missed the final 12 games of the regular season with a bone bruise and sprained ligament in his left foot. Golden State came up with the decision to bring Curry from the bench to control his minutes restriction better.
“It’s going to all be based on how many minutes he can play and what the training staff is telling me,” Kerr continued. “In the meantime, Mike Malone said it after the game; he’s the greatest Sixth Man in the history of the NBA. It’s not a bad problem to have.”
After dropping 34 points in 22 minutes of play in the Warriors’ 106-126 victory over the Nuggets, it won’t be a surprise to see Curry back in the starting lineup next game.
