Steve Kerr says Stephen Curry will be on minutes restriction in Game 1 vs Nuggets

Steve Kerr said Stephen Curry will be on minutes restriction if he plays in Game 1 vs the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

The head coach of the Golden State Warriors confirmed that Stephen Curry practiced with the team on Thursday. However, the franchise will provide an official update on his availability for Game 1 on Friday.

Steph Curry said there remains discomfort in his foot, but he doesn’t need to be 100%. “When you get cleared to play, there’s no time to really worry about that. Are you gonna help the team win? Are you gonna make an impact? If I feel like the answer is yes, I’m ready to play.” pic.twitter.com/15oYSuqLbe — Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) April 14, 2022

“Steph did scrimmage three six-minute segments. He felt good. That’s another checkpoint to hit, and he’s optimistic that he’ll play on Saturday.

But, we’ll have to reevaluate tomorrow to see how his foot responds overnight. Right now, things are looking good. His conditioning is good.

It’s good for him to get out there and play because of the speed of the game, and he’s got to feel all that stuff and get some rest but a good day overall.

I don’t know what the number is, but he’s not playing 30, 35 minutes,” Steve Kerr told reporters, via Mark Haynes of Clutchpoints.

For his part, Stephen Curry is optimistic he will play in the series opener. “The goal has always been Game 1, the goal still remains Game 1. I’m very optimistic that it’ll be Game 1. I just want to be available,” he said on The Draymond Green Show.
