Steve Kerr on Warriors’ returning to postseason: ” It’s a different challenge&#822

Golden State Warriors will return to postseason for the first time since 2019. Steve Kerr talked on the challenges and the differences this postseason will have in contrast with the previous ones.

“I think four years ago … I am expecting to win a championship. But we are a different team now. I don’t have any expectations, Kerr told reporters Thursday.

“I know I’m not going into the playoffs thinking, ‘All right, we’re going to do this or do that,’ I’m just thinking, ‘How can we beat Denver on Saturday?’ In a lot of ways, it makes it really fun. Maybe not as fun as having one of the greatest rosters ever assembled, but it’s a completely different challenge and unique.”

The Warriors entered the playoffs as one of the best teams in the history of the league back in 2019, but, injuries derailed their title run. Now, they by no means counted out, but, things have to go their way to compete against Grizllies and Suns.

Curry took a step toward getting Golden State’s roster whole again on Thursday as he participated in the team’s scrimmage. According to the latest reports, he will be available to play in Game 1 Saturday with Kerr claiming Curry will be under minutes restriction.

It’s tough to see the Warriors making noise in the West without Curry being at 100 percent. However, the Nuggets have their own struggles to overcome playing without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.

Since the Warriors have yet to play a full game with their entire active roster, they will have to find their rotations and rhythm during a high-intensity playoff run. That will be the biggest challenge for the “Dubs”, who will play their first postseason game in San Francisco.

“It’s just a matter of you’ve got to win four games, and in order to do that, we have a certain game plan we are going to try and execute on Saturday … and we understand every game takes on a new life of its own,” Curry said Thursday.
