Golden State Warriors cruised past the Dallas Mavericks in the first game of the Western Conference Finals. The Warriors shut down Mavs’ star Luka Doncic and dominated the offensive end with seven players scoring in double-digits.
Golden State head coach Steve Kerr claimed that he expects series to become testy as the teams go deeper and deeper. Dallas has shown this postseason that it needs one or two games to assess their opponent.
After the game, Doncic complimented Warriors’ defense and Golden State made sure to emphasize it doesn’t expect Dallas to struggle like it did in Game 1 of the series. This is what Kerr said, per NBC Sports Bay Area.
“Everybody’s fighting for something that they really want. There’s a lot of mutual respect, but at some point in the series — and it’s always been this way for me as a player, as a coach — after a couple of games, it starts to get testy. Because both sides want it so badly.”
The Mavericks shot just 22.9 percent from 3-point range. Luka Doncic, who entered the contest averaging 31.5 points per game this postseason, was limited to 20. It’s certain that Dallas will bounce back from a blowout loss.
The Warriors will face the Mavericks again on Friday in San Francisco. The Mavericks lost the first two games against Phoenix in the previous round, while they lost Game 1 to Utah in the opening round of the playoffs.
