Stephen Curry put up another great performance in the Finals but he could not lead the Warriors to victory after another fourth-quarter collapse. He also suffered an apparent left foot injury in the late stages of Wednesday’s 116-100 Game 3 loss to Boston.
“I’ll be all right,” Curry told reporters. “I got caught — obviously in some pain, but I’ll be all right. See how it feels tomorrow and get ready for Friday.”
With just over four minutes remaining, Horford landed on Curry’s left leg as the two fought for a loose ball. Curry seemed to wince in pain after the scramble and finished the game limping.
Curry remained in the contest for the next minute of play before subbing out for good. The eight-time All-Star was optimistic about his status for Game 4, he compared the injury to the foot sprain he sustained against the Celtics during the regular season.
He missed more than a month due to that injury as Marcus Smart landed on his foot. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr criticized Smart at the time, calling his play dangerous and reckless.
“That’s what it felt like, and we’ll see how it responds,” Curry said on if it’s a foot strain. “Not much other to say. I don’t feel like I’ll miss a game. Take advantage of these next 48 hours to get ready.”
The Warriors are facing the Celtics Friday night for Gm 4 of the series. Curry will be essential if the Dubs want to get one win in Boston and get back the home-court advantage, who lost in the opening game of the Finals.
The Warriors’ superstar is averaging 31.3 points, 3.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds shooting 48 percent from the field and 48 percent from beyond the arc in addition to an 83 percent from the charity stripe.
