Stephen Curry will be available to play in Gm 4 of the NBA Finals between the Warriors and the Celtics. Warriors and Celtics players were scrambling for a loose ball with 4:12 left in the fourth quarter Wednesday when Boston’s Al Horford landed on the Warriors’ star left leg.
The Warriors’ star was in noticeable pain after the scramble, but he claimed that he will be ready for the next game in Gm3 post-game presser. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported earlier Thursday that there was “optimism” on Curry’s Game 4 status.
“Because I went through what I went through in the regular season and coming back, I know exactly what it is and what I’ve got to deal with and the soreness/pain level and all that,” Curry said Thursday.
“So once I got checked out last night, I knew I wouldn’t have to go get any extra tests just because we’ve been through this before.”
It appeared that he avoided a “major issue” and he wouldn’t need an MRI. Curry finished the 100-116 loss to the Celtics Wednesday night with a game-high 31 points. This is Curry’s sixth Finals appearance and first since 2019.
Curry’s availability for Friday’s game at TD Garden is ideal news for the Warriors because the odds of them bouncing back from a 2-1 series deficit against the Boston Celtics. Golden State’s guard confirmed the news Thursday morning.
“I’m going to play. That’s all I know right now,” the Warriors’ star said. “Get as much recovery and healing as possible and understand how important Game 4 is. I’m excited about the opportunity.”
