Steph Curry optimistic he’ll be ready for Game 1 of the playoffs

Steph Curry is not yet cleared to play, with two days remaining for the start of the playoffs. The Warriors’ superstar appeared optimistic about his availability in Game 1 of the series vs Denver.

“The goal has always been Game 1, the goal still remains Game 1. I’m very optimistic that it’ll be Game 1. … I just want to be available,” he said on The Draymond Green Show.

The Dubs superstar suffered an injury in the game vs the Celtics on March 16. Golden State announced Tuesday that Curry was making “good progress” in his recovery.

He was set to practice with the team Thursday, but his status remains unknown ahead of Saturday’s first-round matchup vs Denver.

The Warriors’ series against Denver will mark the first time they play a postseason game at their home arena since losing the 2019 NBA Finals. This will also be the first playoff game in the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Should he return for the series opener Saturday, it’d be just the second time the team’s core of Green, Curry and Thompson will play together this season.
