Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid will certainly miss the first two games of the series vs the Miami Heat, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The All-Star big should be ready to play in either Game 3 or Game 4.

Embiid, 28, averaged 26.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game during the 76ers’ six-game series win against the Toronto Raptors, but suffered his injury in the final minutes of Game 6 win in Canada.

Wojnarowski says Embiid will not travel with the team to Miami for the first two games of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. He will see a doctor mid-week for his orbital fracture, while he’s expected to clear concussion protocols soon.

The first two games of the series are in Miami, followed by Games 3 and 4 in Philadelphia, as Miami is entering the second-round after its 4-1 series win over the Atlanta Hawks. The Eastern Conference semifinals start Monday.

ESPN Sources: Joel Embiid won’t travel for Games 1 and 2 in Miami, but there’s optimism he could return as soon as either Game 3 or 4 in Philadelphia. He needs to clear concussion protocols and see doctor mid-week on his orbital fracture. More on NBA Countdown at 12:30 ET on ABC. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) May 1, 2022
