The Philadelphia 76ers take on the Milwaukee Bucks at Wells Fargo Center tonight for the final time in the regular season.
Both teams are coming off tough road losses to the Phoenix Suns (104-114) and the Memphis Grizzlies (102-127), respectively.
The Sixers will attempt to run and score in transition. An up-tempo game fits them well and will give them the upper hand. If the Bucks limit them to a slower, half-court pace, the Sixers will most likely struggle.
“The main cause was we played too slow. We got to find a way to get easy baskets. We got to try and get into transition early, get something out of it and (if) we don’t have anything, pull it back out.
Whether it’s a post-up or a pick-and-roll and play out of that, but I’ve been feeling that for the last couple of games. We’re just playing too slow. No pace,” Joel Embiid said after the loss to Phoenix, via NBA.com.
On the other hand, the Bucks know defense will be the key to win the game. If they allow 127 points, just like they did vs Memphis, it will be very difficult to get the win.
Giannis Antetokounmpo will be available, despite the right ankle soreness he is dealing with. Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday are good to go as well. The Big-3 of Milwaukee has missed a few games recently and want to return to form ahead of the playoffs.
“You don’t want to go into the playoffs having all these things lingering. You want to be 100 percent healthy because once you go into the playoffs…stuff is going to happen there,” Antetokounmpo said.
Both teams enter the matchup at 46-28 and are tied for second in the East. They are just a game below conference leaders Miami Heat (48-28). Fourth-placed Boston Celtics (47-29) are also a game below the Heat.
The Sixers and the Bucks have split wins this season (1-1). Whoever earns the victory tonight will get the tiebreaker as well.
