Shaquille O’ Neal and Stephen Curry could say that they entered a small group of NBA players to win the Academy Award.

As Kobe Bryant did four years ago in a different category, Shaquille O’Neal can say he’s an Oscar winner as well.

“The Queen of Basketball”- with Stephen Curry and O’Neal as executives producers- won the Academy Award for short subject documentary on Sunday.

The documentary narrates the story of Lucia Harris, who became the first woman to be drafted in the NBA back in 1977. She was selected by the New Orleans Jazz in the seventh round of the 1977 NBA draft.

However, Harris was pregnant at the time and never actually went through with attempting to make the team. Harris, who died two months ago, had an illustrious career prior to the NBA draft.

She helped Delta State University win three straight national championships in the 1970s and earned a silver medal for the United States at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. She scored the first basket ever in Olympic women’s basketball history.

Harris is part of the Basketball Hall of Fame and her story made known with the Academy-award winning documentary inspiring WNBA and basketball players all around the world.
