Serbian promising forward Nikola Jovic will be eligible to be selected in the 2022 NBA Draft, ESPN reports via his agent Misko Raznatovic.
Jovic, 18, ranks as the 23rd-best prospect in the class of 2022. He averaged 11.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists playing for Mega Mozzart in the Adriatic League this season.
He also starred in a game with the Serbian men’s national team during FIBA World Cup qualifying action in February.
The 6-foot-10 Jovic helped Serbia to a fourth-place finish in the FIBA Under-19 World Cup last summer. He was named in the all-tournament team of the competition.
According to draft expert Jonathan Givony, Jovic have not been considered a major European prospect until the breakout displays at the ANGT Belgrade in March 2021.
He averaged 29.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.8 blocks per game while helping his team win the tournament.
Jovic entered the Mega Mozzart’s rotation after his showings in Belgrade tournament. He’s hoping to become the first Serbian draft prospect since Darko Milicic to become a lottery pick.
The 18-year-old forward is drawing comparison to European sizeable forwards with shot-making ability like Danilo Gallinari and Deni Avdija.
The NBA draft combine will be held in Chicago between the 16th and 22nd of May, while the draft will take place on June 23 in New York.
