Russell Westbrook is unwilling to change his role on the Los Angeles Lakers, as the team keeps struggling on both ends.
According to Marc Stein, the multiple time All-Star has no desire to change his role and game approach.
“Jousting with reporters in press conferences is apparently not the only push-back from under fire Lakers guard Russell Westbrook.
There have been no shortage of defiance, I am told, when coaches and players have tried to broach changes or approach with the former MVP.
For all the obvious complexities involved in trying to move Westbrook when he’s owed $47 million next season, one league source described the idea of bringing him back as impossible given the current tension,” Stein reports.

The Lakers and head coach Frank Vogel are examining all options regarding the role of Russell Westbrook. They have even considered moving him to the bench, which is something the All-Star guard hasn’t experienced in his career.
The 17-time NBA champions attempted to trade Westbrook by the February 10 deadline, but came up short. People around the league expect the two sides to part ways in the summer.
Russell Westbrook is averaging 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists in 61 games with the Lakers. He is also shooting at 43.3% from the field and 28.4 from beyond the arc.
For their part, the Lakers have been in free fall lately, having lost four straight and seven of their last eight. They are just 0,5 games above 10th-placed New Orleans Pelicans.
