Reggie Jackson opened up about how the Los Angeles Clippers and superstar guard/forward Paul George saved his career.
Jackson said he was considering retiring from basketball before George called him, saying the Clippers would sign him. The veteran guard joined LA in 2019 and has rejuvenated his career since then.
“When I was in Detroit, for myself, it was fun. The organization wasn’t… They didn’t have a lot of success. We made the playoffs when I got there. At the same time, I went through a lot of injuries. So like I said, going through the doubt, the naysayers, the criticism from fans. It really started making me question myself. It actually made me to the point where… Hopefully… Don’t let anybody ever do this to you in life, but take the fun out of the things that you love to do. Because I really was gonna retire. My lifeline, the reason y’all see me so happy is my brother here saved me. He called me, told me they were gonna come get me. We laugh about it to this day because I actually blew him off. He was like, ‘yeah, we’re gonna get you.’ I was like, ‘yeah whatever.’ I was gonna retire. Like in my mind, I feel good. So he came and got me and we didn’t have the best year the first year I got there. I was able to kind of get healthy. I was playing with better players so I didn’t have to play as much,” Jackson said while speaking at George’s camp in Southern California.

Reggie Jackson has become the starting point guard of the Clippers and has a key role in the team’s offensive tactics. He averaged 16.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 75 games with the Clippers last season. However, the team got eliminated from the playoffs.
With Kawhi Leonard and Paul George healthy, Reggie Jackson and the Clippers have their sights set on making their return to the postseason.
Reggie Jackson is entering the final year of his contract with the Clippers, worth $11.2M, and will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
