Gonzaga freshman and potential no.1 pick Chet Holmgren will enter the 2022 NBA Draft, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. He’s projected to be among the top picks.
The promising forward, who finished the season in Gonzaga, is considered one of the front-runners to be the no.1 pick in the upcoming Draft.
The 7’0″, 195-pound freshman averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 3.7 blocks on 60/39/71 percent shooting in 26 minutes per game. He appeared in 32 games.
The promising forward hopes to land with a team that will be a great fit, even if it isn’t atop the draft board.
“I understand basketball is a business and going No. 1 doesn’t mean nearly as much as finding a good fit and the right situation,” Holmgren told ESPN.
Holmgren, who turns 20 next month, is a good ball-handler who moves with fluidity and has developed an outside shot. According to his ESPN interview, Holmgren will look to work on his strength and body ahead of the NBA Draft.
“I’m doing that with my pre-draft training — in the weight room getting stronger, tightening up my [ballhandling], my shooting, and becoming more accustomed to handling an NBA style of game,” the lanky forward said.
