Brandon Ingram had 30 points and the New Orleans Pelicans stunned the Phoenix Suns 103-118 to tie the Western Conference first-round series. Ingram scored 16 of his 30 points during the third quarter to help his team lead for the rest of the game.
The Suns played again without injured star Devin Booker. Booker is sidelined with a strained right hamstring straight after scoring 31 first-half points in the top-seeded Suns’ Game 2 loss.
The Pelicans saw Jonas Valanciunas bouncing back with 26 points and 15 rebounds to help the Pelicans even the series. Now, they will head to Phoenix for Game 5 of the series. For the Suns, Deandre Ayton had 23 points and eight rebounds.
Chris Paul was held to just four points, after putting up 19 in only in the fourth quarter in the Suns’ two playoff wins. Jose Alvarado had a great defensive game on him forcing him to be a non-factor throughout the game.
The Pelicans used a 23-35 third quarter to take control of the game. They led 89-85 with 8:05 left and used a 12-0 run to put it away and tie the series. New Orleans had only eight turnovers in Game 4, while the Suns committed 12.
However, Ingram was the most important player in the court shooting an 11-of-23 from the field and becoming the first player in franchise history to have three consecutive 30-point games in the playoffs, according to ESPN Stats and Info.
Next game is on Tuesday in Phoenix.
