New Orleans Pelicans released the latest injury update ahead of the crucial Sunday night matchup vs the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Pelicans may have upgraded Brandon Ingram to probable, but, they listed two other starters in CJ McCollum and Jonas Valanciunas as questionable.
New Orleans are already without Zion Williamson and point-guard Kira Lewis Jr., who are out for the season. In addition, Larry Nance Jr. (right knee arthroscopy) is listed as doubtful.
Nance has played in two previous games for New Orleans, but not in a back-to-back, which would be the case Sunday.
As for the Lakers, LeBron James is still questionable with a knee issue as he was in Saturday’s injury report. Also, questionable is Dwight Howard, while Talen Horton-Tucker is probable. Anthony Davis and Kendrick Nunn are out.
The Pelicans are one game behind the Lakers after their loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. New Orleans has held tight to the last spot of the play-in. However, the Lakers are not in their best since the All-Star break.
If the Lakers and Pelicans remain in 9th and 10th seed, respectively, they will face each other in the first round of the play-in tournament. The Lakers are 4-11 since the All-Star break, while the Pelicans are 8-7 during the same stint.
In the first matchup between the two on Feb.27, New Orleans cruised past the Lakers in blowout fashion by getting a 123-95 win.
