Paul George: “We gotta go through the Timberwolves and the Wolves have to stop the Clippers&#8

Paul George says the Los Angeles Clippers only care about beating the Minnesota Timberwolves and reaching the NBA playoffs.

The superstar of the Clippers noted Tuesday’s play-in game is not about him facing his former teammate, Pat Beverley. Instead, it is about the Clippers defeating the Timberwolves.

“We’re not going through Pat. We’re going through the T-Wolves. This is not a Paul George vs. Pat Beverley matchup, this isn’t a Pat Bev vs. the Clippers matchup.

We gotta go through the Timberwolves, and the Timberwolves have to stop the Clippers. So, I’m not even gonna make that the narrative.

That’s not the narrative going into that play-in game. Fact of the matter is, both of us are trying to win to lock the spot up,” Paul George said on Sunday, via Tomer Azarly of Clutchpoints.

For the All-Star forward, Beverley is what Minnesota needed to become a playoff contender in the West.

“I definitely see a team that is confident. I see a team that has believed and they play with some heart. Pat Bev that he’s going to change a lot of stuff, whether it is good or bad. He is going to make an impact. And he’s doing that.

Pat Bev has been, really, the battery and the engine that they needed to have. They have so much talent over there, but they needed someone to kind of push them,” George added.

Minnesota finished seventh in the standings, at 46-36, whereas Paul George and the Clippers were eight, at 42-40. The winner of Tuesday’s play-in game will go on to face the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs.

Whoever loses will take on the winner of the New Orleans Pelicans vs San Antonio Spurs game for the eighth spot on the table. The eighth seed will play the Phoenix Suns in the opening round.
