Pat Connaughton to remain with the Bucks for one more season

The Milwaukee Bucks were informed Pat Connaughton will remain with the team after opting in his last year of his current deal. The deadline to decide on his player option was June 29 with Adrian Wojnarowksi reporting the news first.

Connaughton, 29, is coming off a career-year in which he averaged 9.9 points on 39.5 percent three-point shooting. He also started a career-high 15 games. He is slated to make about $5.7 million the coming season.

In four years with the Bucks, Connaughton has played in 262 games has averaged 7.2 points per game on 36.5 percent three-point shooting along with 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

During the 2021 NBA Finals against Phoenix, Connaughton averaged 9.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, being a great two-way presence and helping Milwaukee win the NBA championship after 50 years.

The Bucks receive another gift at a low price as a projected priced free agent remains with them in the same way Bobby Portis did last year. Portis has a $4,564,980 player option to decide on within a week.

If he opts in, the Bucks will retain another key player in a low price. However, even if he hit free agency, he’s expected to return to the Bucks in a lucrative deal after having a career-season with the 2021 NBA champions.
