Pacers reportedly open to trade Malcolm Brogdon in the offseason

Indiana Pacers are expected to make significant changes in their roster as they’re hoping to build around Tyrese Haliburton. According to Marc Stein, Indiana will likely trade starting point guard Malcolm Brogdon to make more room for Haliburton.

Brogdon was ineligible to be moved during the season due to signing a two-year extension, worth $45 million, in October. According to Stein, the Pacers will be open to move the veteran guard. Buddy Hield could also be a trade chip in the coming offseason.

Hield was a part of the trade that brought Haliburton to Indiana at the trade deadline. The Pacers had to give up All-Star center Domantas Sabonis. Hield has two years and $40.4 million remaining on his deal while Brogdon has three years and nearly $68 million.

Brogdon averaged 19.1 points, 5.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds through 36 games this season. Hield appeared in 26 games in Indiana since Feb.10 putting up 18.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest.

The Pacers finished the season in the lottery thanks to 25-57 record that ranked them 13th in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers have the fifth-best odds to land no.1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

In any case, Indiana will have the chance to add another lottery talent alongside Tyrese Haliburton and Chris Duarte. As a result, Brogdon and Hield could be tradable pieces for the organization.

Haliburton had a very promising finish for the rebuilding Pacers. He put up 17.5 points and 9.6 assists through 26 games in Indiana. Duarte averaged 13.1 points on 43.6 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from deep in his rookie season.
