Olympiacos triumphs over Panathinaikos in Game 1 of the Greek League Finals

Olympiacos protected its home court and rallied past Panathinaikos in Game 1 of the Greek League Finals (74-61).

The “Reds” made an explosive start to the game and closed the opening quarter in front by 19 (23-4). For their part, the “Greens” cut the deficit to 10 early in the second quarter (29-19), but the hosts managed to bring their lead back to 18 at halftime (38-20).

In the second half, Olympiacos retained control and cruised to an easy victory, as the visitors never came closer than 13 points (55-42).


Kostas Sloukas led the winners in scoring with 16 points, while Sasha Vezenkov (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Moustapha Fall (14 points, 10 boards) also scored in double figures.

On the other hand, Ioannis Papapetrou and Okaro White scored 13 points each for the losing squad, while Jeremy Evans added 11.

The series now moves to the home-court of Panathinaikos for Game 2 on Tuesday. The “Greens” will aim to respond and tie the series.
