Nuggets Michael Porter Jr. reportedly suffers minor setback during injury rehab

Michael Porter Jr. is eager to return to action after undergoing a back surgery on Dec.1. However, the Denver Nuggets forward’s return may have been pushed back due to a minor setback, per Mike Singer of The Denver Post.

The Nuggets have six remaining games in the regular season, but Denver has not ruled out Porter for the rest of the season, Singer reports.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports stated during a TNT broadcast last Tuesday that Porter has endured some “ups and downs” during his rehab process, which suggests the setback may have occurred before then.

Porter, who also missed his entire rookie season in 2018-19 due to back surgery, has appeared in just nine games this season. He has not played since November 6.

The Nuggets were hoping to have Porter at least at some point during the postseason. but the team never released a firm timeline for his return. The same goes for Jamal Murray, who is recovering from an ACL surgery.

Neither injured player has been ruled out for the season, but as we’re moving towards the end of the regular season, it becomes possible to not see either of them coming back this season.

Despite missing two of their best players, the Nuggets remain among the best teams in the West. They are sixth with a 45-31 record, two games ahead of the seventh seed.

As of now, they will avoid the play-in tournament being two games ahead of the seventh seeded Minnesota Timberwolves.
