Nikola Jokic is behind the Denver Nuggets reported interest in EuroLeague MVP and Serbian star Vasilije Micic. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Jokic has been a central figure in the Nuggets’ reported interest in Micic.
The 28-year-old guard was originally drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014, but he has yet to make his NBA debut. After being named EuroLeague Final-4 MVP back-to-back years, Micic seems ready to make his debut in the league and Jokic may want him in Denver.
Fischer reports four teams have been mentioned as potential destinations for the star guard. More specifically, San Antonio, Milwaukee and Chicago are among the interested parties.
Micic’s draft rights were traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2020 as part of the Al Horford deal. The 28-year-old averaged 18.2 points, 4.6 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 17.5 PIR over 34 EuroLeague games this past season.
He was the top scorer in the tournament and won the Alphonso Ford Award as well as the Final-4 MVP, averaging 19.0 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in two games against Olympiacos, and Real Madrid.
Micic is not expected to play for the rebuilding OKC Thunder and as a result, the franchise will probably use him as a trade chip, especially if the Efes’ guard decides to make the jump and play in the NBA next season.
