Nikola Jokic had another outstanding performance in the game vs Minnesota. However, his MVP performance was not enough to secure the win and the sixth seed in the West.
Jokic finished with 38 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists, but, the Nuggets lost 136-130 to Minnesota on Friday night.
The biggest point of discussion after the game was of course if the Nuggets have a chance to play healthy at last after missing the second and third-best player in the roster to injuries.
Jokic was asked about Jamal Murray situation and if he expects to get back on the court this season.
“I told Jamal, if you’re not 100% ready, don’t come back. It’s stupid,” Jokic said in the postgame presser, per Mike Singer of The Denver Post.
Denver’s head coach Michael Malone did not rule out Murray’s return in the aftermath of the loss to Minnesota Friday.
“Jamal is getting better every day. Trust me, we all want him back. I want him back. We’re a better team with Jamal Murray,” Malone told reporters, via Sean Keeler of The Denver Post.
“And he wants to be back. He’s making great progress. But I can’t sit here and say that he’s going to play any of the last four games. But I also can say that he won’t.”
However, he wasn’t so talkative in a question around an update on Michael Porter Jr, who reportedly suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a back injury.
The Nuggets remained competitive despite the injury struggles this season. They are sixth in the Western Conference and as of now they’re remaining ahead of the seventh-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves.
If they won the next three of four games, Denver will secure a place in the postseason, without going through the play-in tournament.
