Nikola Jokic helped the Denver Nuggets rally past the Los Angeles Lakers (129-118) and maintain a top four push.
The reigning NBA MVP led all scorers with 38 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Five more players scored in double figures for the winners.
Afterwards, the Serbian center said the Nuggets should avoid dropping to the play-in tournament spots at all costs.
“We win them all… we don’t want to go to the play-in tournament,” Nikola Jokic told Malika Andrews of ESPN.
The Nuggets improved to 47-32 and are two games behind the Dallas Mavericks (49-30) in the battle for fourth. Denver will play its last three games at home, hosting the San Antonio Spurs, the Memphis Grizzlies and the Lakers.
For his part, Nikola Jokic is fighting for his second straight MVP award and is among the prime candidates to claim it.
In 72 games for Denver this season, he is averaging 26.8 points, 13.7 rebounds and 8 assists, on 58.3% shooting.
