Denver Nuggets superstar and two-times MVP Nikola Jokic is comfortable with the direction of the franchise despite president of basketball operation Tim Connelly agreed to join the Minnesota Timberwolves’ front office.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday that Connelly, who spent the past nine seasons in Denver’s front office, agreed to a five-year deal worth more than $40 million and ownership equity to run basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Nuggets management has been in touch with Nikola Jokic in the days following Tim Connelly’s departure and the team’s franchise superstar is comfortable with the direction of the team, per Mike Singer of The Denver Post.

Jokic is eligible to sign a 5-year, $254 million supermax extension this summer. Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth is expected to take over after Connelly’s place leaving the team’s front office, per Singer.

Nuggets governor Josh Kroenke was scheduled to address the media for the first time in years on Thursday. However, it will be likely postponed after Kroenke recently tested positive for COVID, per Singer.

Jokic has been named 2021-22 NBA MVP after leading the Denver Nuggets to the sixth seed of the Western Conference playing without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr., who were sidelined with long-term injuries.
