Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic was named Western Conference player of the week for the second time this season. That’s the 11th time Jokic receives the accolade, surpassing Carmelo Anthony for the most in franchise history.
Jokic is among the top players in the league leading the injury-plagued Denver to the fifth seed in the West. Jokić averaged 34.8 points, 17.3 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting 67 percent from the field en route to a 3-1 week.
The Nuggets’ superstar led the week with the most rebounds, points and field goals in the NBA.The Nuggets have now won five of their last seven games and currently sit in fifth in the Western Conference at 47-32.
The Serbian superstar kicked off the week with his 19th triple-double of the season. Jokic had 26 points, 19 rebounds, and 11 assists in a win at Charlotte. He followed his triple-double with 37 points (15-19 FG), 13 rebounds, and nine assists in a road win vs Indiana.
He also had 38 points (14-21 FG), 19 rebounds, and eight assists in Denver’s lone defeat of the week vs Minnesota. The team bounced back with a road win over the L.A. Lakers, where Jokic put up 38 points (15-22 FG), 18 rebounds and six assists.
The Serbian superstar leads the NBA in PER, is second in rebounds per game, ninth in points per game, and eighth in assists per game while averaging 26.8 points, 13.7 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.4 steals in 33.3 minutes per game.
Trae Young was the player of the week in East leading the Atlanta Hawks to a 4-0 record. averages of 30.3 points, 10.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds. The Hawks (41-37) are currently No. 8 in the East standings.
