Nikola Jokic had a remarkable night in Charlotte, putting up his 76th career triple-double to lead the Denver Nuggets to a win in a close-fought battle 113-109 over Charlotte.
The Nuggets’ superstar had 26 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists for his 19th triple-double of the season to add in the conversation for the MVP award.
Jokic only managed six points in the first half, but, he had seven assists and 10 rebounds to pick Charlotte’s defense apart.
Apart from that, the Nuggets picked up apart the Hornets and allow themselves to remain ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference standings.
“To start this road trip off against one of the hotter teams in the NBA, that’s a terrific win,” Malone told reporters, via Mike Singer of the Denver Post.
The Nuggets currently sit in sixth place in the Western Conference, the last spot to lead to directly to postseason. Denver has won a franchise-record 23 road games this season with last night’s victory.
As for Jokic, he will need two more triple-doubles to surpass the legendary Wilt Chamberlain for the most triple-doubles from a center. Chamberlain holds the record for the most as a center with 78.

Jokic will probably surpassing him this season, considering the Nuggets have six games remaining in the regular season. More importantly, the Jokic will need to push even more to keep his team over the sixth seed threshold.
Denver will continue its two game road trip against Indiana on Wednesday. They are going to face Minnesota, San Antonio, Memphis and the Los Angeles Lakers (twice) to end their regular season run.
