Denver Nuggets could not avoid their third playoff defeat in Game 3 of the series vs the Golden State Warriors. Despite the Nuggets are in the brink of elimination, Nikola Jokic believes the series is not over.
After Game 1 and Game 2 blowout defeats, Denver put up a fight in Game 3, however their effort was not enough against the trio of Jordan Poole, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Jokic posted an MVP-type performance with a double-double of 37 points and 18 rebounds in the Nuggets’ best display of the series so far.
”I love how we fought tonight,” said Malone, who challenged his team to showcase the same effort Sunday: ”Are we going to roll over? Are we going to fight like hell and send this back to Golden State?,” Michael Malone stated, via NBA.com.
Denver had the chance to walk away with the victory as Jokic put them ahead 111-109 with 3:20 remaining for the game. However, Jokic and co. scored just two points the rest of the way.
“It’s not over,” Jokic told reporters after the game. “As long as we put the effort like we did today, we are going to be fine. They are a great team, but we showed ourselves that we can play with them and it can be a really interesting game.”
Without max players Jamal Murray (ACL) and Michael Porter Jr. (back), the Nuggets knew will have to work extra hard to be competitive against a healthy Warriors team. However, in the latest game, they at least fought hard and came close to a victory.
Next game, Game 4, is Sunday as Denver will try to avoid the sweep.
