The Brooklyn Nets used a fourth-quarter rally to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers (107-118) and climb to 7th in the standings.
Brooklyn outscored Cleveland 19-35 in the fourth and cruised to the victory. Prior to that, the Cavs erased a 15-point deficit early in the game (19-34) and were in front by five after three quarters (88-83).
Cleveland outscored Brooklyn 69-49 between the second and third quarter, but this wasn’t enough to win the game.
Kevin Durant led all scorers with 36 points, on 11/20 shooting and 4/6 from beyond the arc. The All-Star forward also had five rebounds and five assists for the winners. Four more Brooklyn players scored in double digits.
On the other hand, five players scored in double figures for the losing squad, with Darius Garland leading the way with 31 points.
The Nets extended their winning streak to three games and won the season series 3-1. The two teams now have identical records (43-38).
Brooklyn holds the tiebreaker, though, and is in the driver’s seat for 7th in the East ahead of the play-in tournament (April 12-15).
Whoever finishes seventh will get the home game against the eighth seed, with the winner advancing to the first round.
The loser will face the winner of the game between the ninth and 10th seed, and the winner of that game will earn the No. 8 seed.
In their regular season finale, the Nets take on the Indiana Pacers at home, while the Cavs host the Milwaukee Bucks. Both games will take place on Sunday.
