Nets ‘very hopeful’ Ben Simmons could play in the next 2 or 3 weeks

Ben Simmons hasn’t made his debut with the Brooklyn Nets yet, as he is recovering from a back injury. However, this could happen within the next two or three weeks, according to Brooklyn head coach Steve Nash.

Nash told reporters on Tuesday he is ‘very hopeful’ that the All-Star guard could be in Nets lineup in the remaining regular season games.

Ben Simmons last played an NBA game back in June. Because of his dispute with Philadelphia front office, the Sixers removed him from the rotation.

On February 10, the Sixers sent Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and draft picks to the Nets. In exchange, they received James Harden and Paul Millsap.

While the versatile guard was working on his condition, he suffered a back injury that has ruled him out temporarily.

The Nets have 12 games left in the regular season, therefore Ben Simmons still has time to get back to form and play.

Brooklyn is currently eighth in the East, at 36-33, and has won its last four games. The Nets are within the play-in tournament spots and two games below 7th-placed Toronto Raptors (38-30).

Their target, though, is to overcome 6th-placed Cleveland Cavaliers (39-29) and directly qualify for the playoffs. And the return of Ben Simmons could certainly help them achieve their goal.
