Detroit Pistons promising forward Saddiq Bey had his bets night of his career in his team’s 134-120 win over the Orlando Magic.
Bey scored a career-high 51 points on 10 made threes to lead the Pistons to their 19th victory for the season. The sophomore forward tied a franchise record in threes made and shot an incredible 17-of-27 from the field.
”Rebuilding is always ugly,” Detroit coach Dwane Casey said on Bey’s big night, via NBA.com, ”but there’s a lot of beautiful moments like tonight.”
That was the eighth time an NBA player scores 50 points or more this month. That is the most 50+ point games in a single month (nine occasions) since December, 1962, per NBA.com.
During that month, Kyrie Irving went off for a career high 60 points vs Orlando, while LeBron James added two 50+ pieces in less than a week against Washington and Golden State.
Karl-Anthony Towns became part of the Minnesota Timberwolves history with a franchise and career record 60 points in a win against the San Antonio Spurs.
Let’s not forget, Kevin Durant who exploded for 53 points two days before his teammate Kyrie Irving score 60. Jayson Tatum became part of history with 54 points against the Nets earlier in March.
