NBA Top Stories: LeBron James registers second 50-point performance in less than a week

LeBron James has been amazing for a mediocre Lakers team this season. The King added another dominant performance as he went off for 50 points in LA’s 122-109 victory over the Washington Wizards Friday night.

That was the second time last week that James exploded for 50+ points. He had 56 against the Golden State Warriors last Saturday.

LeBron James is the first Lakers player since the late Kobe Bryant in 2008 to have back-to-back, 50-point home games.

The Lakers’ superstar had 14 points in the fourth quarter, while he led the home side to a 22-8 run in the third quarter.

He finished the contest with 50 points on an efficient 18-25 shooting, while he added seven rebounds and six assists. He also had six made threes.

“I was able to hit a hot streak at one point. I just tried to stay in that zone as long as possible and hit a couple,” James said after the game.

According to the NBA, James became the first player ever to put up multiple 50-point games after turning 35. He recorded the 15th contest of his career with 50 points or more.

LeBron is now averaging 29.7 points per game, which would give him his best scoring season since 2010.

In addition, he moved past Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo for the league lead in scoring.

The Lakers haven’t had many things to cherish from this season, considering they’re fighting for a place in the play-in tournament.

That was only the second win in the last eight games for the Lakers. Their last victory came in the game that James put up 56 points vs the Warriors on Saturday.
