PJ Tucker is expected to hit the free agency this summer, and the Sixers might have interest in luring him away from the Miami Heat. According to Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey, the Sixers will hope to offload some salary in the draft night.
The Sixers are reportedly shopping Matisse Thybulle and the no.23 pick of the 2022 NBA Draft in hope of creating the space to sign PJ Tucker. Pompey reports the 76ers could offer the Heat forward a three-year deal worth $30M.
Tucker declined his $7.4-million player option for the 2022-23 season. The veteran averaged 7.6 points and shot a career-high 41.5% from deep last season. He was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2021 championship run.
Joel Embiid had high praise for Tucker after the Sixers were eliminated in six games vs. Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat. In the same report, Pompey suggests Philadelphia is also hoping to offload the $76.9 million remaining on Tobias Harris’ deal.
Knicks to clear $25 million for Jalen Brunson
“It’s no secret the New York Knicks are targeting Jalen Brunson in the upcoming offseason, and they are expected to create “roughly $25 million in room to be able to chase the Dallas Mavericks point guard”, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report reports.
Burks makes $10 million next season and Noel $9.2 million, while they would likely want to move Kemba Walker and his $9.2 million. New York and Walker agreed not to continue together during the past season.
