The superstar of the Utah Jazz Donovan Mitchell could still get traded in the offseason. This is what Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports, adding that the Miami Heat would be the favorite to land him.
After trading fellow superstar Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Jazz seem to have no plans to trade Mitchell and want to build the team around him.
However, Larsen reports that Utah keeps its options open and could go into a full rebuild mode if they trade their superstar guard.
“I’m hearing some pushback regarding the idea that the Jazz are definitely keeping Donovan Mitchell moving forward. Sense is that the Jazz are keeping their options open here: they could retool around Mitchell, or trade him for a massive haul to jumpstart a rebuild.
In particular, watch Miami. Obviously, Kevin Durant is their No. 1 target, but if that doesn’t work out, they have been and will continue to be aggressive re: Mitchell,” Larsen reports.
Donovan Mitchell signed a supermax contract extension last season and now has four years and $135M left in his current deal with the Jazz.
