The Memphis Grizzlies are interested in acquiring No.4 pick of the 2022 NBA Draft that belongs to the Sacramento Kings, according to NBA reporter Marc Stein. The Kings are willing to part ways with the pick if they receive back win-now pieces.
In any case, the Grizzlies seems interested to pair explosive star Ja Morant with NBA prospect sensation Jaden Ivey, who is expected to be the fourth pick in the upcoming draft. Stein said that would require Memphis to part with either Brandon Clarke or Dillon Brooks.
The Grizzlies have three picks in the upcoming draft. They currently own the No. 22 and No. 29 picks in the first round, plus the 17th pick in the second round. The Grizzlies are seemingly interested in another promising prospect after being the second seed in the West last season.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski previously reported the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks and Washington Wizards are among the teams looking to trade up to No. 4 to draft Ivey.
Ivey recently said that he would love to play in New York, while he did not shoot down the report which suggests Sacramento is not among his preferred destinations. Ivey is the top prospect in the guard position for the 2022 NBA draft.
Wizards, Knicks interested in Pacers’ Malcolm Brogdon
The Pacers are seriously discussing trades centered on Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner, per Shams Charania. The Wizards and Knicks are interested in Brogdon, armed with the Nos. 10 and 11 picks, respectively.
The Charlotte Hornets are another team interested in Turner, who finished as the top blocker in the NBA the last two seasons. Turner is on an expiring deal worth $17.5M for the 2022-23 season. The Pacers are on a rebuild mode and hoping to build around young guard Tyrese Haliburton.
John Collins ready to move on from Atlanta
The likelihood of a John Collins trade seem higher than ever, per Marc Stein. Collins just completed the first season of a five-year, $125 million contract, and he generates enough interest around the league.
The Hawks seem willing to shake up things after their disappointing finish in the 2021-22 season. Atlanta went through the play-in, but were defeated in the first round by the top-seeded Miami Heat.
Rockets’ Kenyon Martin Jr. demands a trade
According to beat reporter Kelly Iko of The Athletic, third-year forward Kenyon Martin Jr. has approached team management about more playing time and has also discussed the possibility of being traded.
Paolo Banchero at no.3 seems to be a sure-fire selection for the Rockets after parting ways with Christian Wood. Martin Jr. averaged 9.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game in his two seasons in Houston.
“There are a number of teams — playoff contenders included — that have registered interest in Martin in the past, sources said, with his combination of age, athleticism and untapped potential deemed as attractive,” Iko reports.
