The Washington Wizards are going to address their point-guard situation this summer and Memphis’ unrestricted free agent Tuys Jones is on their offseason radar, per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. Jones will be a free agent this summer after three years in Memphis.
Jones is one of the most underrated point guards in the league and an important part of the Grizzlies successful run in the last two season. Maybe the Memphis’ move to send De’Anthony Melton to Philadelphia is linked to their willingness to re-sign Jones.
The Wizards are in desperately need of a point guard, and they are also constantly linked to Indiana’s Malcolm Brogdon, who is set to be traded by the Pacers this offseason. Whether it’s Jones or Brodgon the Wizards will need to add a guard this summer.
Dejounte Murray wants to play with Trae Young in Atlanta (?)
There is a lot of smoke lately suggesting that the Spurs’ corner stone Dejounte Murray could be available for the right price, which is reportedly set at three first-round picks, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.
Even though the 2022 NBA Draft has already occurred, the Spurs aren’t a team primed to take a massive step forward as is, which means anything could happen, even a Dejounte Murray trade. Fischer added to his report recently.
In an appearance on Please Don’t Aggregate This, Dejounte Murray has a strong interest in joining Trae Young on the Atlanta Hawks. However, that does not mean, the Spurs will let Murray leave without receiving a lucrative package back.
Jusuf Nurkic to remain in Portland
The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to re-sign veteran center Jusf Nurkic. According to Michael Scotto of Hoopshype, the Blazers kept the Bosnian center past the trade deadline with the “with the intention of re-signing him in free agency this summer”.
Nurkic is a valuable piece for the Blazers when he’s healthy. At the start of the summer, the Blazers were linked to restricted free agent Deandre Ayton, who is expected to command max money in the free agency.
Nurkic will probably come cheaper for Portland, which is set to retool its roster and put together a contending squad around veteran superstar point guard Damian Lillard. In other roster moves, the Blazers already decided to keep Josh Hart in their roster.
