In San Francisco, at Chase Center, it is Game 1 of the NBA Finals for the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics.
Steve Kerr’s guys are unbeatable at home throughout the playoffs (9-0). In addition, they have won their last 11 home games.
The Warriors are heading into the Finals more rested than their opponents, as they needed only five games to defeat the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals (4-1). This will mark their sixth Finals appearance in eight years.
Stephen Curry (averaging 25.9 points and 6.2 assists in the postseason) and Klay Thompson (averaging 19.8 points) have to keep their performance level up in order for the Warriors to celebrate their fourth championship (and seventh for the franchise).
For their part, the Celtics are back in the NBA Finals after 12 years. After sweeping the Brooklyn Nets, Boston fought hard to become Eastern Conference Champions.
They beat both the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat in Game 7. Undoubtedly, Jayson Tatum (averaging 27 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists) has been performing really well this postseason.
Furthermore, Jaylen Brown (averaging 22.9 points and 6.8 boards) has been a key player for Boston in the playoffs.
This Finals series is highly anticipated and my betting prediction is that we will watch more than five games between Golden State and Boston (odds at 1.50).
My fun bet is that this series will end in Game 7 (odds at 3.00). It is remarkable that the Celtics have won seven road games in the postseason. Therefore, if I were to pick a total score for the Finals, this would be Celtics in 7 (3-4, odds at 6.50).
For its part, tonight’s Game 1 is very hard to pick a winner. I predict that both teams will score more than 212 points in total (odds at 1.93). In addition, I pick in-form Jaylen Brown to record more than 34 points, rebounds and assists in total (odds at 1.95).
