The NBA announced the All-Defensive Teams for the 2021-22 season headlined by Marcus Smart and Mikal Bridges in the All-Defensive 1st Team.
Smart, the 2021-22 Defensive Player of the Year, received 198 points to earn his third selection to the All-Defensive First Team selection. Bridges, who finished in second place for the Defensive Player of the Year Award, received 193 points.
Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. joined Smart and Bridges in the All-Defensive First-Team selection.
Gobert has been voted as member of the 1st team for sixth consecutive season. Antetokounmpo, the 2019-20 Defensive Player of the Year, is an NBA All-Defensive 1st Team recipient for the fourth straight season.
Memphis Grizzlies bigman Jaren Jackson is making his first appearance after leading the league in blocks (2.27) during the regular season. The NBA also announce the All-Defensive Second-Team.
The 2021-22 NBA All-Defensive 2nd Team consists of Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo, Bucks guard Jrue Holiday, Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle, Celtics center Robert Williams III and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.
Players were awarded two points for each vote to the All-Defensive First Team and one point for each vote to the Second Team. Voters selected two guards, two forwards and one center for each team.
