Mike Budenholzer wasn’t satisfied with the defensive performance of the Milwaukee Bucks in the win over the Philadelphia 76ers (118-116).
Despite the victory, the Bucks conceded 116 points and came close to losing a crucial game. On Saturday, Milwaukee had allowed 127 points in a blowout defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies (102-127).
“We feel like it’s an area where we’ve got to improve. Wes [Wesley Matthews] is certainly somebody that brings a ton to the table defensively. Just gives you more options.
And the way we can use the roster. Jon Horst has done an amazing job of putting together a ton of depth. And we just see what the best combos are,” Budenholzer told media, including Hedgeout.net, afterwards.
The Bucks concede 111.3 points per game, ranking 17th among the 30 NBA teams. In 13 games in March, Milwaukee has allowed its opponents to score 117.1 points per game.
Despite their mediocre defense, the reigning champions are second in the East, at 47-28. They are just 0.5 games below conference leaders Miami Heat (48-28). On Thursday, they travel to Brooklyn to take on the Nets and defense will be the key to win the game.
