Marcus Smart spoke with media ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals vs the Golden State Warriors and addressed his ankle injury.

The Defensive Player of the Year got injured in Game 7 of the second round and missed two games of the Eastern Conference Finals vs the Miami Heat.

“It hurt, but my mom always told me, ‘If you’re going to be on the court, you can’t make excuses. If you’re hurt, then sit your tail down.’ So if I’m going to be out there, no matter how much pain I’m in, I can’t let it affect me,” the star guard said.
